Tacoma man, 21, struck by a car, killed on I-5
A Tacoma man was killed Saturday night when he was struck by a car on Interstate 5 near Federal Way, according to a news release from the Washington State Patrol.
The news release gave this account:
Robert Tenaruiz, 21, was a passenger in a pickup traveling southbound on I-5, approaching South 317th Street, just before 8:30 p.m.
After a box fell from the truck, the vehicle pulled to the shoulder. Tenaruiz left the pickup and attempted to retrieve the box. He was hit by the car and died at the scene.
The roadway was blocked for more than two hours while police investigated.
