The public is invited to attend a reception Monday to honor Fircrest Mayor David Viafore.
The celebration will happen immediately following the council’s regular meeting that starts at 6 p.m. at City Hall, 115 Ramsdell St. The meeting is expected to be short and will conclude with a resolution recognizing Viafore for his work on City Council.
Viafore was elected to the council in 1991 and joined at the start of 1992 when he was 27 years old. After two years, he was elected mayor by his peers and held that position for 22 of the next 24 years.
While Viafore is retiring from public office, he will remain in the community at the Italian delicatessen he runs at 604 Regents Blvd.
