Early morning fire destroys Spanaway mobile home, sends man to hospital
A man was in critical condition at an area hospital Tuesday after a fire destroyed the mobile home where he was sleeping.
Central Pierce Fire and Rescue were called to the fire in the 22600 block of 53rd Avenue Court East in Spanaway at 4:30 a.m.
A woman and teenage boy made it out of the home safely but the man was still inside when crews arrived, Central Pierce spokesman Guy Overby said.
The man was taken to the hospital in critical condition and then transferred to a second hospital for treatment of smoke inhalation, Overby said.
All that remains of the mobile home is its frame.
Investigators believe the fire was caused by an overloaded or altered electrical panel.
