Car crashes into Lakewood restaurant

One person was taken to a hospital when a car crashed into a fast-food restaurant Tuesday in Lakewood.

The car crashed into the side of Wendy’s at 108th Street Southwest and Bridgeport Way Southwest about 1:40 p.m., West Pierce Fire & Rescue spokeswoman Jenny Weekes said.

It wasn’t immediately clear what caused the crash.

“Right now they’re trying to figure all of that out,” Weekes said. “It sounded like there were multiple cars involved, at least two.”

Lakewood police spokesman Chris Lawler confirmed two cars were involved, and he said the driver of the car that hit the building was the man taken to St. Clare Hospital. His injuries were not serious, Lawler said.

Weekes said an inspector would look at the building, to make sure it was safe to pull the car out.
