Puyallup man dies in Auburn wreck
A Puyallup man died Monday in a wreck on state Route 18 in Auburn, according to the Washington State Patrol.
Ali Mustafa Saeed, 40, died at the scene, troopers said.
A pickup driver caused the crash after he took his eyes off the road and failed to see Saeed’s disabled truck and utility trailer ahead of himm troopers said.
After his truck had a flat tire, Saeed pulled at least three feet off the road and onto the shoulder of eastbound state Roue 18, west of Auburn-Black Diamond Road, troopers said.
As Saeed and his 43-year-old passenger got out to get a spare tire in the back of the truck, the pickup hit Saeed and killed him, according to the State Patrol.
Crews took the passenger, also a Puyallup man, to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
The 47-year-old Arlington man who caused the wreck was not impaired, and troopers released him pending investigation.
