Pedestrian killed in South Tacoma

Tacoma police on Friday were investigating a fatal accident that left a pedestrian dead.

A rental truck hit a man about 10:45 a.m. in the 400 block of South Tacoma Way. The pedestrian, who has not been identified, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police spokeswoman Loretta Cool said no details about the accident were immediately available. It is unclear whether the man was crossing the street when he was hit.

The driver was not arrested.

South Tacoma Way from South C to South M streets was closed for several hours while investigators worked.
