Eatonville newspaper editor to seek Pierce County Council seat

Journalist and former Puyallup school board member Pat Jenkins announced this week he will seek election to the District 2 position on the Pierce County Council.

The seat is now held by former state representative Joyce McDonald, who is prevented by the council’s term limits from running for re-election.

Jenkins is editor of the weekly newspaper The Dispatch in Eatonville. He also edits Senior Scene, a monthly publication for Pierce County senior citizens, and Where to Turn, an annual senior citizens services directory.

The candidate has served on the board of several South Sound community organizations including a food bank, park district and chemical dependency treatment program.

Jenkins was born in Tacoma. He attended Puyallup schools and Green River Community College.
