Tacoma crews rescue person from bluff at Point Defiance

Crews rescued one person from the bluff at Point Defiance Monday.

Tacoma Fire was called to Five Mile Drive at roughly 2 p.m., and found the person stuck about 100 feet down the bluff near the Narrows Lookout.

A rescuer went down the bluff to check on the person, who was in good enough condition to walk down to the beach, and was picked up there by the Tacoma fireboat, Battalion Chief Steve Collins said.

It wasn’t clear if the person fell down the bluff, or got stuck trying to climb up it.

Collins didn’t know the person’s gender, age, or the extent of his or her injuries.

Further information wasn’t immediately available.
