Gig Harbor man dead following dump-truck crash on King County highway, troopers say
A Gig Harbor man died in a vehicle crash in Kent on Wednesday afternoon, Sept. 6.
The 54-year-old man was driving a dump truck north on state Route 167 near Willis Street when one of the truck’s tires blew out, the Washington State Patrol reported. The truck went out of control, rolled and came to a rest on its driver’s side. The driver was reportedly not wearing his seat belt, according to a Washington State Patrol press release.
The official cause of the collision is equipment malfunction, according to WSP. The Gig Harbor man was the only person in the truck.
