The Hub in Gig Harbor to reopen Friday
The Hub in Gig Harbor will reopen Friday for lunch service following a small fire that occurred July 19.
According to owner Pat Nagle, the exact cause of the fire is unknown. The Gig Harbor Fire Department contained it quickly, and the damage was contained to an addition built off of the kitchen that housed the walk-in cooler, with minimal damage to some interior Sheetrock and some areas of the exterior of the building and the room.
No damage was sustained to the main restaurant building.
The cost to replace the walk-in is estimated at about $15,000, plus the cost to repair the interior and exterior damages, Nagle said.
“Everybody’s been super supportive,” said Nagle, adding that his employees have stayed positive and hard-working.
The county has worked quickly to authorize permits needed for repairs, he said.
There has also been an outpouring of support from the restaurant’s Gig Harbor customers.
“We couldn’t ask for better support,” Nagle said. “We just hope we haven’t lost the momentum we gained during the U.S. Open.”
