Firefighters roll for cars into trees, onto barriers, down banks and on fire

Nov. 2: Vehicle into barrier — Gig Harbor Fire & Medic One was dispatched around 4 a.m. to the report of a vehicle into the cable barrier at about the 15300 block of State Route 16. Crews arrived to find approximately 8 posts of the barrier down and moderate damage to the side of the vehicle. The driver was offered medical evaluation but declined. Washington State Patrol was on the scene investigating.
Nov. 5: Vehicle into trees — Around 6:00 p.m., firefighters and medics were dispatched to the area of 144th and Crescent Valley Dr. The report stated that a vehicle left the roadway and went into several trees. Crews extricated the driver, who was not seriously injured. Pierce County Sheriff’s Department handled the investigation.
Nov. 6: Vehicle Fire — A vehicle fire was reported around 10:00 a.m. on State Route 16 near Purdy. It was reported that the grass was catching fire under the motor of the vehicle. Upon fire department arrival, the driver was out of the vehicle and the fire was out. Arrangements were made for the vehicle to be towed for repair.
Nov. 6: Vehicle Fire — At approximately 7:30 p.m., a vehicle fire was reported around the 11200 block of Crescent Valley Dr. NW. Crews arrived to find a single vehicle down an embankment fully involved in flames, with brush burning immediately around the vehicle. The surrounding brush was quickly extinguished but the vehicle fire proved difficult to put out due to a fuel leak. The driver was medically evaluated and declined transport to hospital.
