A Christmas Carol — 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 6. Opening night of Peninsula High School’s production of Charles Dickens’ holiday classic “A Christmas Carol.” Performances continue December 7, 12, 13 and 14 at 7:00 pm and December 8 and 14 at 3:00 pm. Holiday Tree Lighting — 5 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7 in Skansie Brothers Park, 3207 Harborview Drive. Music, hot cider, cocoa and cookies at the net shed as everyone counts down to the big moment. It’s all free, courtesy the Downtown Waterfront Alliance. After the tree lighting, join the divers of Pier into the Night for a live video look at underwater creatures.
Santa Sleigh Photo-Op — 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7 at Patrick Kelly State Farm, 3412 56th St. NW. Bring the kids and the camera for a photo with Santa and his sleigh.
Eagles Bazaar — 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7 at Gig Harbor Eagles Club, 4425 Burnham Dr. Unique and affordable holiday gifts from local vendors. Breakfast and lunch available from the Eagles kitchen. Proceeds benefit the Kidney Foundation.

Seattle Style Strings — 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7 in the Key Center Library, 8905 Key Peninsula Hwy KPN. Free concert of seasonal and classical music by a Seattle-based string quartet known for its eclectic style and scholarly approach to period music.
Festival of Chimes and Lights — 11 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. in downtown Port Orchard. City’s 21st Annual celebration feature, marching band, choirs, pictures with Santa, free chili, hot cider or cocoa, popcorn. Christmas tree lighting is at 4:30 p.m. at Kitsap Bank, 619 Bay St.
GHHS Tidefest — 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7 and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 8 at Gig Harbor High School, 5101 Rosedale St NW. Two-day food, arts and crafts show to raise money for the school’s activities and athletics programs.

Medicare Plan Advice — 12:30 to 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 11 at Key Peninsula Services, 17015 9th St. Ct. NW, Lakebay. Volunteers affiliated with the state Insurance Commission will answer questions about Medicare Supplement and Advantage Plans.
Upcoming Seasonal
Hayrides with Santa — 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 13 and Saturday, Dec. 14., beginning at Timberland Bank, 3105 Judson St. Ride a hay truck from Miracle Ranch with Santa. Rides leave every 20 minutes or so and circle through downtown Gig Harbor. Cookies and cider and a photo-op with Santa in the bank lobby before each ride. It’s all free, sponsored by the Downtown Waterfront Alliance.
Chili Cookoff — 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 14, at St. John’s Episcopal Church, 7701 Skansie Ave. Chili dinner, appetizers and deserts to benefit Eastside Baby Center (West Sound). Guests are asked to bring an unwrapped new toy, winter clothing or diapers for children under 5.
Santa’s Boatshop — 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 14 at the Eddon Boatyard, 3805 Harborview Dr. Children ages 3 and up are invited to build and paint model boats in “Santa’s Boatyard.” Limit 10 children per one-hour session beginning every half-hour. Children must be accompanied by an adult. $15 or $25 for two; includes materials.
Lighted Boat Parade 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 14. Boats will assemble at Arabella’s Landing Marina, proceed to the City Dock area, turn inside the harbor entrance, go up the north side of the harbor and turn again to pass by Anthony’s restaurant and return to Arabella’s before tracing the route a second time.
Gingerbread House — 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 14 at the Key Center Pierce County Library, 8905 KPNW, Lakebay. Make and decorate your own gingerbread house. Materials supplied while they last. Messiah Singalong — 6 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 15. Singalong with Handel’s Messiah at t.he Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 12002 Peacock Hill Ave. Choir, soloists and orchestra will accompany the “audience choir” for this Christmas favorite.
