Holiday Concert — 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 21 in Peninsula High School Auditorium. Gig Harbor’s two community instrumental groups perform together for the first time, in a holiday extravaganza. The Gig Harbor-Peninsula Civic Orchestra and the Harbor Winds will share the stage for a playlist that includes Shubert’s 9th Symphony, a Corelli concerto, and a special Christmas mashup.
Kids Night Out — 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 21 at Rosedale Hall. Popcorn, snacks, games a movie for the kids while parents finish holiday shopping. The movie is “Elf,” (2003) with Will Ferrell. $35, $5 sibling discount. Register online at penmetparks.org.

Beach Monitoring — 9:30 p.m. to 11:45 p.m. Friday, Dec. 27 at the Old Ferry Landing in downtown Gig Harbor. Break out the sou’wester and put batteries in the headlamp for a night of citizen science with Harbor Wildwatch, when low tides occur in the dark of the night. No science background required, and you don’t have to stay the entire time.
NW Animal Adventures — 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 27 in Key Center Library, 8905 Key Peninsula Hwy NW, Lakebay. Meet real animals face-to-face, including a fox, an armadillo, a tortoise, a red-tailed boa, a hedgehog and a Eurasian eagle-owl. Interactive live animal show for all ages.
