Police blotter: Stealing Christmas, and an absent-minded shoplifter

Dec. 12 – A woman woke up to find her inflatable Christmas decorations were stolen from her front yard, along with a bag full of stocking stuffers that were in her car.
Police were dispatched at 1:20 p.m. to the 3500 block of Grandview Street when the woman noticed all of her Christmas decorations were missing. She was not sure how much they were worth, although she recalled that one inflatable cost around $250.
Lapse of memory
Dec. 1 – A man was shopping and was seen concealing a keychain in his pocket. Police were dispatched at 7:43 p.m. to the 4900 block of Point Fosdick Drive where the man left a store with the $20 keychain.
Police stopped the man as he left the store, and before the officer could read him his rights, he pulled the keychain out of his pocket and said he completely forgot he put it in his pocket and handed it to the officer.
The man was charged with theft and had to sign the store’s trespass warning. He was given a criminal citation and court date.
