Gig Harbor firefighters busy with spinouts and fender-benders on streets

Jan. 17 Blocking accident

Firefighters and medics were dispatched around noon to the intersection of Hunt Street and Skansie Avenue for a motor vehicle accident blocking two lanes. Firefighters checked for injuries and shut off power to both vehicles. Medics assessed all three patients. All declined transport.

Jan. 17 Head-on accident

Gig Harbor Fire & Medic One responded to the report of a head-on accident around 4 p.m. at the intersection of Peacock Hill Avenue and Firdrona Drive. A driver of one vehicle, while reaching for something in the car, turned into a stopped vehicle. All three occupants declined medical evaluation.

Jan. 21 Spinout into ditch

A vehicle lost control on State Route 16, spun around, and ended up in a shallow ditch. With mud trapping the driver in place, crews extricate the driver through the passenger side. Medics assessed the patient, who declined transport. Firefighters helped the driver retrieve personal belongings from the vehicle.
