Two-way traffic flowing again on SR302 at Minter Creek construction site
Two-way traffic has been restored to State Route 302 along the Minter Creek construction zone, the state Department of Transportation says.
The temporary two-lane bypass will allow traffic to pass without being halted by flaggers, as has been the case for the last several months
The work is part of a $16.2 million project to remove and replaced three outdated culverts that were barriers to fish migration. The culverts are under the roadway at Minter Creek and Little Minter Creek, a tributary.
On February 12, contractors completed four drilled shafts, six feet in diameter and 50 feet deep, that will provide the foundation for a new bridge over Minter Creek, replacing the largest of the culverts.
Later this summer, the contractor expects to begin in-water work near both creeks.
Deck repairs to the Purdy Spit Bridge, including ramp work for disability access and approximately eight miles of paving, will occur when warmer, dry weather conditions allow. Advanced notice of any highway closures for the Purdy Spit Bridge, including a detour route, will be announced.
The bridge work will take place on three weekends in the summer, the dates to be announced.
While deck repairs are underway, travelers will detour using 94th Ave NW, Sidney Rd SW, SE Pine Rd, Bethel-Burley Rd SE, 66th Ave NW, 154th St NW.
