Two-alarm fire at a mobile home park leads this week’s Gig Harbor fire reports

March 7: Rollover on bridge — Calls came in to 911 just before noon reporting a one-vehicle rollover accident on the Gig Harbor side of the Narrows Bridge. The vehicle appeared to have struck a concrete barrier at high speed. Firefighters had to extricate the trapped driver from the vehicle. The driver was evaluated, treated and transported for further care. Washington State Patrol was at the scene conducting an investigation.

March 7: Car vs. Tree — A vehicle went off State Route 16 around the 14800 block and struck a tree just after 5:30 p.m. Washington State Patrol was on the scene when medics arrived. The vehicle had moderate damage and the tree was down. Crews set up a safe work zone and stabilized the vehicle. Medics evaluated and treated the patient then transported for further care.

March 7: Motor Vehicle Collision — Two cars collided, T-bone style, just after 9 p.m. at the intersection of 38th Ave and 56th St NW. Crews arrived to find one vehicle on the shoulder and one into a tree. Both drivers were out of their cars and law enforcement was at the scene. Medics checked occupants for injury, none of which required transport for further evaluation or treatment. Gig Harbor Police Department handled the accident investigation.

March 15: Two-Alarm Fire at Trailer Park

Around 5:30 p.m., South Sound 911 received multiple calls regarding explosions in the area of 3700 Hunt Street in Gig Harbor. When Gig Harbor Fire & Medic One and neighboring agencies arrived at the Harborland Mobile Home Park, they discovered one unit heavily involved in fire. With the two elderly residents safely evacuated, firefighters contained the fire using defensive tactics, while protecting neighboring units from this two-alarm fire. The Pierce County Fire Marshal’s office is conducting its investigation as to the cause of the fire.

March 3: Vehicle overturned

A vehicle went off the road and overturned on Island Boulevard near Issaquah Road around 9 p.m. The three occupants got out. Medics assessed the occupants and transported two of the three to a nearby hospital for further evaluation and treatment. The Pierce County Sheriff’s Department was on the scene conducting an investigation.

March 18: Gas Leak

Around 3 p.m. a landscaper using a small tractor struck a gas line. No fire was reported. Firefighters arrived to find gas leaking from the supply line. Crews evacuated the area and Gig Harbor Police Department assisted with traffic control while Puget Sound Energy clamped the broken line.

March 19: Trash Fire

Gig Harbor Firefighters were dispatched for a smoke investigation at approximately 6:30 p.m. around 154th Street NW and Purdy Drive NW. Crews found a small pile of trash on fire next to the road. The fire was extinguished and a thermal imaging camera was used to look for hot spots.
