Rollovers, a head-on collision and a leaning tree call out Gig Harbor firefighters

March 30: Rollover accident — Gig Harbor Fire & Medic One responded to a one-vehicle, multiple rollover accident around 4:30 a.m. in the 14800 block of State Route 16. Crews arrived to find the vehicle on its wheels in the median with the only occupant self-extricated. Medics evaluated the driver and concluded he did not need transportation. Washington State Patrol arrived and began the accident investigation.
March 30: Hazardous tree —About 6:30 in the evening, crews were dispatched to a call about a tree into the power lines and across 63rd Ave at 32nd St. Firefighters arrived and found the tree was leaning into phone lines. Crews pulled the tree off the lines, cut it up to remove it, and reopened the road.
March 31: Two-car collision — A two-car head-on accident was reported at 40th St NW and Wollochet Dr NW around 9 a.m. Crews helped with traffic control as medics evaluated and treated the occupants. None of the patients required transport for further care. Firefighters mitigated leaking fluids from the vehicles. Pierce County Sheriff’s Office performed the accident investigation.
