Fire reports: Early-morning blaze destroys garage, and a rollover on East Bay Drive

May 2: Garage Fire — A call came in around 1:45 a.m. from a citizen reporting a garage fire in a detached structure behind a neighbor’s house in the area of 30th Street and Warren Drive. Multiple callers, including the homeowner, contacted 911 to report the same. The garage was about 50 feet from the residence. The occupants were instructed to evacuate the home. The first units arrived to a fully involved structure. Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire without extension to the home. The Pierce County Deputy Fire Marshal was on the scene to investigate.
May 4: Oven Fire — Gig Harbor Fire & Medic One was dispatched just before noon for an oven fire. Upon arrival, firefighters found the occupants had evacuated the home. Crews entered the house, confirmed that the oven fire was out and checked the surrounding cabinets for extension with a thermal imaging camera.
May 3: Rollover accident — Around 6:30 p.m. firefighters and medics responded to East Bay Drive near Park Lane for a single-vehicle rollover accident. Responders found the vehicle in the ditch on its top. The driver was the only occupant and had self-extricated. Crews closed part of the road to traffic. Medics evaluated, treated, and transported the driver to the hospital for further care. Pierce County Sheriff’s Department handled the accident investigation.
