Police blotter: A broken window and guerrilla basketball

Broken window

May 20 – Two windows on the roof of Gig Harbor High School were damaged, looking as if a rock was thrown through the window. The estimated cost for repair is $2,000.

Police were dispatched at 12:06 p.m. to the 5100 block of Rosedale Street where the school district’s maintenance supervisor noticed the two damaged windows. There as a 1-inch diameter hole through the window that caused a spiderwebbed cracked pattern.

Photos were taken of the incident. There is no suspects at this time.

May 12 – Teenagers jumped over a no-trespass fence to play basketball at a church. Police were contacted as the church has had past issues with people jumping over the fence and causing damage to the property.

Police were dispatched at 5:15 p.m. to the 3500 block of Rosedale Street where the pastor asks that anyone who jumps over the fence be simply asked to leave, unless they were damaging church property.

The teenagers, who were just playing basketball, were respectful to the officer and left the area with no issues.
