Police blotter: Elected official says he was harassed by an angry constituent
Harassing an elected official
June 16 – A man has been harassing an elected official in the Gig Harbor area.
Police were dispatched at 7:09 p.m. to the 4800 block of Point Fosdick Drive where the man was throwing crackers at State Rep. Jesse Young. The man told Young “You don’t represent me.” The man also told Young he was ready to fight, threatening to throw his bicycle at him.
This has not been the first time this man has harassed him, Young told police. The man has been seen pounding on his office door in the past, demanding entrance. Young said the harassment has escalated recently, and he fears for the safety of himself and his family.
Young was given information on how to file for a no-contact order.
Dangerous driver
June 16 – An officer watched as a speeding vehicle with an infant in the back seat almost crashed into a semi-truck.
Police pulled over the reckless driver at 1:58 a.m. after seeing the vehicle speed around a blind corner eastbound on SR302
There was light rain on the ground, and the vehicle and semi-truck were inches from collision
An officer pulled over the vehicle. The driver told the officer he was working a double shift and was late because he overslept. The officer told the driver he almost killed himself. The officer then noticed a child in the back seat of the car.
The man was issued a criminal citation and was told he had to respond to the Pierce county District court once he received a court date.
