July 25: Motor vehicle vs. pedestrian — Firefighters and medics were called just prior to 2:30 p.m to Pioneer Way and Harborview Drive, where a vehicle struck a pedestrian. Medics assessed and treated the pedestrian who declined transport for further evaluation and treatment. The driver of the vehicle was not injured.. Gig Harbor Police Department handled the investigation.
July 25: Rollover in ditch — A vehicle with a trailer was backing up when it went into a ditch and rolled over. Firefighters and medics arrived at 92nd Street and 82nd Aveune around 11:45 a.m. to find the trailer still on its wheels, the accident blocking the road. Medics determined no injuries to the driver while crews blocked the scene for traffic safety. Law enforcement closed the road upon their arrival. Crews confirmed no leaks or other occupants, disconnected the battery, cut away stuck tree branches, and stood by to assist tow. Pierce County Sheriff’s Department and Washington State Patrol handled the investigation.
July 28: Small bark fire — A small fire in landscaping bark was reported next to Big 5 Sporting Goods around 8 a.m. It was reportedly also burning part of a guardrail. Firefighters arrived and quickly extinguished the 2x3-foot fire with a garden hose.
July 28: Dishwasher fire — Around 7:30 p.m. Gig Harbor Fire & Medic One was dispatched to the 11200 block of 65th Ave. for a dishwasher fire that was reportedly spreading to the kitchen. Firefighters arrived to find a small dishwasher fire that was contained and out on arrival. Crews assisted the homeowner in removing the dishwasher from the house then checked to assure the fire had not spread.
