Suspect in Lakebay Post Office burglary and others is arrested in Bremerton
One of five suspects identified as being responsible for several burglaries to U. S. Post Office facilities in three counties — including thefts at the Lakebay Post Office — was arrested Monday in Bremerton.
Brandon Lyle Egeler, 35, was taken into custody by a U.S. Postal Service Inspector at a residence in the 3600 block of McCall Boulevard West, in the Navy Yard City area, according to the Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office.
Burglaries occurred at post offices in Lakebay, Keyport, Tracyton, South Colby, and Grapeview. The break-ins occurred between June 6 and July 4.
The offenders in each instance gained entry by force. Items typically stolen included credit / bank cards and checks, according to Kitsap County Sheriff’s spokesman Scott Wilson.
The arrest was made by U. S. Postal Service Inspector J. Kilgallen, who has been working with detectives from the Kitsap County Sheriff’s Special Investigations Unit (SIU) and the West Sound Narcotics Enforcement Team (WestNET).
Egeler was booked into the Kitsap County Jail on an outstanding arrest warrant for burglary, 2nd degree. Bail was set at $50,000.
Four other suspects are still at large.
