Police blotter: He left jacket in car, keys in pocket; found both car and jacket gone.

Very expensive jacket

Sept. 13 – A man left his jacket next to his vehicle and walked down to his beach house. When he got back, he realized both his jacket and vehicle were missing, as both his keys and cell phone were in his jacket pockets.

Police were dispatched at 4:11 p.m. to the 2700 block of Harborview Drive where the man realized his Range Rover was missing. A female in the area told the man that two suspicious people were walking near his vehicle prior to the theft.

The man told police a description of the vehicle, including the fact there is a temporary tag attached to the rear of the vehicle. Through this tag number, police were able to obtain the license plate number of the car. The vehicle was entered in as stolen.

Daughter’s ex-boyfriend

Sept. 9 – The reporting party told police that her daughter’s ex-boyfriend stole her $800 iPad. The ex-boyfriend went on to text a random girl on the iPad, asking to “meet up.” Since the iPad is connected to the reporting party’s phone, the mother was receiving all the texts her daughter’s ex-boyfriend was sending.

Police were dispatched at 10:42 p.m. to the 6100 block of Sehmel Drive where it was learned the ex-boyfriend recently lived in the house where the iPad was stolen. The officer located the phone number that the ex-boyfriend was texting and called her. A woman picked up the phone and was not very cooperative with police, only saying she started texting the man recently and didn’t want to be involved.

The locater on the iPad has been turned off. According to the mother, the man has a separate court date this coming month.
