Sheriff’s log: Lakebay burglary live-streamed to out-of-town homeowner
Lakebay burglary caught on camera
A Lakebay homeowner called at 8:25 a.m. on Jan. 16 to report that he was out of town and, from a camera inside his house in the 17400 block of 14th St. NW., he could see a male tampering with the door. As deputies were on the way, the caller reported that the suspect had entered the residence through the front door and removed the camera. Deputies arrived and saw a white Cadillac in the driveway. The suspect exited the house carrying a bicycle, and deputies arrested him. The 54-year-old suspect initially provided deputies with a fake name but later divulged his true identity. Charges will be referred to the prosecutor’s office.
Gutted SUV dumped, burned, near Vaughn
Deputies were dispatched at 1 a.m. Jan. 21 to a suspicious fire in the 10900 block 168th Ave NW, Vaughn, where a 1985 Chevy Trailblazer was fully engulfed. After the flames were extinguished, deputies looked inside the vehicle and could see that the steering wheel and engine were missing. The vehicle had clearly been dumped. Deputies were unable to contact the registered owner, so they towed the vehicle to impound.
Unfinished Canterwood area home burglarized
A construction project manager called at 11 a.m. Jan. 19 to report a burglary of a house under construction in the 5400 block of 132nd St. Ct. NW, Gig Harbor. He said that $2,800 worth of lighting fixtures were being stored in the garage and are now missing. Deputies did not find any signs of forced entry. The project manager provided deputies with information about possible suspects.
Man arrested for violating no-contact order
Deputies responded at 4:25 p.m. Jan. 19 to a residence in the 9100 block 66th Ave NW., Gig Harbor, for a no-contact order violation in progress. The suspect already had two active warrants for violating a no-contact order. Deputies spoke with the victim and determined that the 31-year-old male suspect was inside the home. The man initially ignored commands to come out of the house but was eventually taken into custody. He was booked into the Pierce County Jail.
