His coat was full of stolen stuff. The coat was stolen, too

Bulging pockets full of goods

On Jan. 16, officers responded to a report of a shoplift in progress at the Wilco Store, 3408 Hunt Street. Police say a white male suspect in his late 20s was seen concealing items in the clothing department. Officers say they observed the suspect exiting the fitting room wearing a jacket with tags still on it. In the pockets were multiple wrench sockets, Dremel parts, two pairs of gloves, a leather wallet, two hoods, and a GE remote dimmer. The value of the merchandise came to $357.48.

Police say they issued a written notice of trespass and a citation for theft in the third degree.

In the parking lot, police say the suspect led them to a red Honda Civic with another man asleep inside. When awakened, police say, the man attempted to conceal a glass pipe. Police say the second person had an open misdemeanor warrant from Kitsap County for reckless endangerment. He was transported and booked into Kitsap County Jail.

Burglary suspect up a tree

On Jan. 17, police were called to Harbor Hill Elementary at 10811 Harbor Hill Dr over a potential break-in. The school is under construction with a perimeter fence surrounding the property.

Police say a piece of clothing had been placed over a surveillance camera and that an electric saw was used to cut open the lock on a storage box. A K-9 unit was called to the scene and began to search the property. An officer found a suspect up a tree and held him at gunpoint.

Police say the man told them he was in the tree to serve as a “lookout” for a friend. He denied breaking into any buildings, but refused to answer any further questions. Charges of burglary were referred to the prosecuting attorney’s office.
