Video shows suspect arrived pedaling a bike, left rowing stolen boat in Gig Harbor

Thief arrived by bike, left by boat

An inflatable boat was stolen from a Gig Harbor marina by a suspect who arrived by bicycle, police reported.

The missing craft is an 8-foot Western Marine tender with a 1998 Mercury outboard. Police said it was taken from Peninsula Yacht Basin, 8913 N. Harborview Dr. on Sept. 17.

Police said surveillance video showed someone arriving at the marina on an orange mountain bike, climbing around the gate and rowing away with the inflatable boat.

Complaining neighbor met with gun

A woman who knocked on an apartment neighbor’s door to complain about noise was met by a man with a gun, police said.

The 23-year old resident of an apartment complex in the 6200 block of Soundview Drive told police she knocked on her neighbor’s door Sept. 26 to complain about sounds of fighting. The man who answered the door carried a gun and told her to leave “before I shoot you,” she told police.

The 50-year-old man told officers he always carries a gun when he answers the door at night. He said he carried it at his side and did not point it at the woman.

Police reported that the apartment has been the scene of several domestic violence calls, and that the resident plans to leave within a week. Meanwhile, the neighbor was advised not to confront the man.

Trailer full of tools stolen

A cargo trailer full of construction tools was stolen from a Gig Harbor storage facility, police reported.

Police said the white, 14-foot cargo trailer was taken sometime between Oct. 2 and Oct. 4 from Burnham Storage Box, 9615 Burnham Dr. The owner told police the trailer held about $3,000 worth of tools used in his electrical construction business. The trailer itself was valued at $7,000.

Police were reviewing surveillance video from the storage facility.

Trailer sawed open, tools taken

A construction trailer parked along a Gig Harbor street was sawed open and emptied of about $2,000 worth of tools, police reported.

The utility trailer had been parked in a dirt pullout near Burnham Drive and Harbor Hill Drive, police said. Sometime between Sept. 24 and Sept. 27, someone used a metal-cutting saw to cut the hinges of the cargo door and steal a fiber-optic splicer and a generator.

The business that owned the trailer, Premier Fiber Solutions, put the loss at about $2,000.
