Second inflatable boat stolen in harbor

It was the second such theft of a boat tender from a Gig Harbor marina within a month. On Sept. 17, an 8-foot Western Marine inflatable was stolen from Peninsula Yacht Basin, 8913 N. Tacoma woman accused of shoplifting
A 41-year-old Tacoma woman was arrested on suspicion of shoplifting after leaving the Ross Dress for Less store, 5500 Olympic Dr. with several items of clothing, police said.
Officers had noted a gold Cadillac sedan previously parked in front of Kohl’s Department Store, 4939 Point Fosdick Dr., and suspected a shoplift had occurred there. When the Cadillac turned up later at Ross, an officer watched the woman get in and the car drive away. When the car was stopped, the woman admitted taking some underwear, socks and a jacket, and agreed to return them. She also returned two boxes of perfume and cologne taken from Kohl’s.
Police said the woman had numerous warrants, but none were bookable because of COVID restrictions at the jail. She was cited for theft and released. The driver of the car and another passenger were released without charges.
Heroin, paraphernalia confiscated
Officers confiscated a syringe full of heroin and other drug paraphernalia from a car parked in a shopping center at 5500 Olympic Drive on Oct. 15, police reported.
A 32-year-old man and a 28-year-old woman, both of Enumclaw, were given a warning and a referral for drug treatment and released. The drugs were tested, confirmed as heroin, and destroyed.
Police said the parked car had attracted attention because it was in a handicapped zone and had heavily tinted windows.
