A vehicle on the shoulder was facing the wrong way and had front end damage, and there was damage to the nearby cable barriers. Chapel Hill Church provided emergency housing and the American Red Cross also supported those affected.

Nov. 18: Porch fire – Crews responded to a fire under a patio about 3:40 p.m. in the 13000 block of Ninth Avenue Court Northwest. There wasn’t fire or smoke when crews got there, and the homeowner showed them the covered porch where the fire had been put out. The home was being repainted, and it looked like the fire may have started in a pile of paint cans and drop cloths. Crews found some smoldering areas in the cloth, which they put out with a garden hose.

Nov. 16: Filmore Drive wreck – There was a wreck about 7:50 p.m. at Filmore Drive and 56th Street Northwest. Two vehicles had moderate damage. One driver declined to be evaluated for injuries. The driver and passenger of the other vehicle were taken to a hospital. The Pierce County Sheriff’s Department investigated.

Nov. 16: Brush fire – Crews responded to a 20-foot by 20-foot brush fire about 4 p.m. near Kopachuck State Park. A large tree was burning from the inside. Engine 59, Engine 51, Brush 52, Tender 56 and the battalion chief worked to put out the fire. The park ranger, Pierce County Fire Marshal and Department of Natural Resources were also involved.

Nov. 15: Tree into roof – A tree fell through the roof and onto the center bearing wall of a duplex about 3:20 p.m. on 66th Avenue Northwest. The owner had already contacted the insurance company and temporary housing had been found.

Nov. 15: Arcing power lines – Engine 52 was hit by arcing power lines as it was responding to an alarm. Crews saw what was happening and called for help, and Peninsula Light was brought in. Crews saw a burned transformer that didn’t seem to be arcing or on fire. They made sure there weren’t any lines down in the area, and after the engine was checked out it went back into service.
