Driving the Narrows Bridge this weekend? You might see delays. Here’s what to know

Drivers crossing the Tacoma Narrows Bridge might see delays this weekend as crews work on the roadway.

“Travelers using westbound state Route 16 and the Tacoma Narrows Bridge from Tacoma to Gig Harbor will want to plan for extra travel time March 19-20,” a state Department of Transportation travel advisory said Tuesday.

Crews plan to close the two right lanes of westbound state Route 16 from 6 p.m. Saturday to 9 a.m. Sunday to make repairs if weather cooperates.

They’ll close the lanes from Pearl Street to Gig Harbor, but the Pearl Street on-ramp and both Jackson Avenue ramps will stay open.

The travel advisory said drivers could check WSDOT’s travel map, the WSDOT Tacoma twitter account and the WSDOT app for updates.
