Gig Harbor and Kitsap County drivers: Expect delays on this part of state Route 16

Travelers can expect traffic delays near the Kitsap-Pierce County line today.

Washington State Department of Transportation crews started road work earlier this morning, May 11, as part of construction on westbound state Route 16 near the Pierce-Kitsap County line and the Burley truck sales.

WSDOT maintenance crews are repairing a barrier that was previously damaged in a collision, according to Doug Adamson, Communications Consultant for WSDOT.

“Be aware: This is causing some significant backups westbound SR-16 at Burley. Leave early if you’re heading that way,” Gig Harbor police posted on social media.

The road work and traffic delays will continue until about 3 p.m.
