This new Gig Harbor restaurant is open in the Harvester location. Here’s what it serves

The Original Pancake House is officially open in Gig Harbor.

It took over the location of the old Harvester Restaurant at 5601 Soundview Dr., which was in business for 38 years.

The Harvester closed June 30, 2021 when the former owner, Kirby Tweten, retired.

The Original Pancake House opened its doors May 30. It’s open seven days a week, 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Although the restaurant is known for its pancakes, it offers a variety of breakfast foods. The menu has other breakfast items such as french toast, waffles, omelets and more.

“Members of the community have expressed their excitement to have another breakfast option in Gig Harbor,” Kevin Freeman, Eastern Washington Regional Manager for The Original Pancake House, told The Gateway. “It’s been awesome seeing people in here. We’ve been told they appreciate that we make all of our batters and fruit slices fresh every day.”

Local representatives of the company didn’t respond to inquiries from The Gateway about how busy the first weeks of business have been at the Gig Harbor location or what changes they’ve made to the property.

The Original Pancake House also has Pierce County locations in Tacoma and in the Puyallup area.

The Gateway reported in December that the Gig Harbor location would be managed by BTE Management Co., which also manages the Tacoma location.

Tax records showed Gig Harvest LLC paid $1.35 million for the property, The Gateway reported, and principal shareholder Carl Swanes signed a lease with the Original Pancake House.
