SWAT team arrests man in Gig Harbor area. He told them he swallowed 120 fentanyl pills

Pierce County’s SWAT team assisted with the arrest of a man on June 21 in the Gig Harbor area.

“We were called to assist with the arrest of a violent subject that had numerous contacts with law enforcement in the past and has numerous felony warrants to include assault three,” Pierce County sheriff’s spokesperson Carly Cappetto told the Gateway.

Around 1:45 p.m. the Peninsula Detachment located the suspect after he was seen in a stolen vehicle near a house on 66th Avenue Northwest, off Rosedale Street, Cappetto said.

Units requested a police dog to assist and surrounded the house at the address, Cappetto said.

“After calling people out of the residence, it was confirmed the subject was still in the home and he refused to exit,” Cappetto said.

SWAT was consulted and took over the scene around 7 p.m.

“The male subject surrendered to SWAT as they called him out of the house over the PA and claimed to have swallowed 120 fentanyl pills,” Cappetto said.

Gig Harbor Fire & Medic One took him to the hospital and a police unit followed.
