Traffic alert: Busy Gig Harbor road closing for National Night Out. Here’s what to know

Gig Harbor drivers should expect to use alternative routes Tuesday, Aug. 1, for Harborview Drive.

The road will be closed from “Pioneer Way to Rosedale Street,” to accommodate the National Night Out event, according to a Facebook post by the city.

Harborview Drive will be closed from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m., the post said.

The annual event will take place from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Skansie Brothers Park on Harborview Drive.

The event is put on by the Gig Harbor Police Department.

“There will be live music with the Ante Up Band, free food, root beer floats, kids games, community exhibits, and more!” the agency posted on Facebook. “It’s time to celebrate Gig Harbor and the special community in which we live.”

Detour signs will help guide drivers around the closure.
