Popular bike company celebrates grand opening west of the Narrows with ice cream, swag
A Gig Harbor bike shop has new owners, a new name and the same staff.
Trek Bicycle Gig Harbor opened Thursday, Aug. 3 at 6820 Kimball Dr, in suite B1.
Their hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday.
The space was formerly Old Town Bicycles, Trek store manager Nora Garnett told the Gateway.
“Very little has changed,” Trek Bicycle posted on Facebook. “Same helpful staff, same great gear, with a few exciting new updates.”
Most of their gear is Trek inventory, but they also carry a few other brands like Continental and Pirelli, Garnett said.
To celebrate their debut in Gig Harbor, they’ll be hosting a grand opening party from 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. on Aug. 12.
“Swing by our Grand Opening for a day full of two-wheeled fun, food, music, and more,” their Eventbrite posting said.
The post said they’ll have ice cream from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., free socks and other swag while supplies last, games, prizes, and e-bike demonstrations.
Trek has a bicycle trade-in program with two options, Garnett said.
One is called Red Barn refresh. They accept old Trek bikes, send them back to corporate headquarters, and give them a refresh before reselling.
For non-Trek bikes, they partner with Bicycle Blue Book. They refurbish and then resell them on the Bicycle Blue Book website.
Based on the value off the bike brought in, Trek will give store credit toward the purchase of a new bike, Garnett said.
From Aug. 11-27 you can bring your old bike in and get additional savings, Garnett said.
- Qualified bikes valued up to $1,000 get an additional $50 toward a new bike.
- Qualified bikes valued over $1,000 get an additional $100 toward a new bike.
