Car crash into utility pole causes power outage west of the Narrows. Here’s what we know
Update: Power was restored around 1 p.m. WSDOT travel maps show that backups have cleared.
Initial post: Over 500 Key Peninsula residents are without power following a car accident early Thursday morning.
A car crashed into a utility pole just after 3 a.m., Anne Nesbit, spokesperson for the Key Peninsula Fire Department, told the Gateway.
Nesbit said there were no injuries.
The Peninsula Light Company posted on X, formerly known as Twitter, that crews were heading out to the area of the accident at 3:41 a.m. near Wauna.
The wreck happened on state Route 302 near Danforth Street Northwest, according to the post.
The PenLight outage map showed 540 people without power as of 10 a.m. Thursday.
Originally PenLight said power should be restored by 9:30 a.m. Just after 8 a.m. they posted: “due to difficulties removing the wrecked car, new ETA is approx noon.”
They said crews will have to wait for the wreck to be cleared before they can “set the new pole.”
