Here’s some good news from WSDOT about lane closures on westbound Tacoma Narrows Bridge

The bridge lanes are open.

Following several days of lane closures to do emergency repairs, the Washington State Department of Transportation said Thursday morning that all lanes of the westbound Tacoma Narrows Bridge are open to drivers.

“We’ve reopened all lanes across the westbound SR 16 Tacoma Narrows Bridge,” WSDOT posted on social media Thursday morning. “The lane closures were in place to allow for emergency repairs on an expansion joint. The multi-day lane closure was required for concrete to cure. Thanks for patience while we made repairs!”

Crews closed the two right lanes of the westbound bridge to traffic Monday afternoon after a routine inspection revealed damage to one of the expansion joints in the middle of the bridge. That made afternoon commutes to Gig Harbor and Kitsap County challenging for drivers this week.

The agency previously said that the earliest it would reopen the lanes is Thursday afternoon. Crews made the repairs and poured concrete Tuesday afternoon, which WSDOT said would need at least 48 hours to dry.
