Global fragrance retailer Bath & Body Works plans to open its first Gig Harbor location this fall, the company says.
A permit application for a store in Olympic Village was submitted May 28 and has received approval from the city’s planning division, according to the city’s public permit portal. Approvals from the engineering division, building and fire safety division, and building and fire administration were still pending as of June 17.
Bath & Body Works spokesperson Jada Miles wrote in an email that the new store is projected to open in late October.
“This location will be about 2,938 square feet and will feature the brand’s latest store design, Gingham+, which includes new technology offerings, elevated design elements and more,” she wrote. A March press release said that the Gingham+ store design includes larger aisles, a softer color palette for fixtures and finishings, and “(n)ew scent bars in select stores where customers can easily test candles, wallflowers and fragrance mists.”
The store is part of a larger building that used to be Fred Meyer Marketplace, according to Gig Harbor Community Development Director Eric Baker.
“We cannot recall a business located in that (smaller) space since it was split off from the larger building,” he wrote in an email.
Bath & Body Works sells “fine fragrance mist, body lotion and body cream, 3-wick candles, home fragrance diffusers and liquid hand soap” in stores across the U.S., Canada and other countries worldwide, according to the company website.
