With its floor-to-ceiling glass windows, infinity pool and sweeping views of Wollochet Bay, an S-shaped estate in the Gig Harbor area is for sale at $7.5 million.
The single-family home at 2715 50th Ave. NW has three bedrooms and four bathrooms, and is a featured listing of Infinity Real Estate, LLC. The home is 7,916 square feet.
“For decades, it’s been admired by the water and whispered about on shore,” listing agent Jennie Wetter says in a video featuring the property. “Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to The S House, where the legend is revealed for the first time in 30 years.”
An Instagram post about the property on Zillow Gone Wild had gained nearly 5,700 likes as of Oct. 1.
Wetter wrote in a text message that the property went live on the market Aug. 13. The home was built in 1995.
Designed by Anderson Anderson Architecture, the property’s soft rounded curves give it an S-shape when viewed from above and frame two circular courtyards. A gently curving staircase descends from the upper level to the patio below.
The home’s unique shape and presence has been the subject of much speculation and curiosity, according to Wetter.
“Lots of people have asked me why the S, and nobody knows why it is an S,” she said.
Inside, spaces like the kitchen and bathroom sparkle with gold accents and mirrors, reflecting views of the waterfront through vast glass windows. All of the home’s features are original — it hasn’t been remodeled since it was built in 1995, Wetter said.
“The owner who had it built, her vision was just all about dazzle and sparkle, and she wanted something very unique,” she said. “She wanted to make sure that every room had a view.”
The lower level features a pool room and bar, steps away from a large outdoor patio with an infinity pool. Gentle landscaping leads down to a deepwater dock with moorage for a yacht. The home has 335 square feet of waterfront.
The six-bay garage has individual windows in each bay providing views of the water. Wetter said that another garage door below has space for at least two additional cars.
Part of what makes the house so unique is the contrast it presents with its surroundings, Wetter told The News Tribune.
“There’s absolutely nothing like it probably in the greater Seattle area, because ... the truth is it’s out of place (in) this area,” she said. “What you picture in the (Pacific) Northwest is warm colors and things that fit well in trees and this feels so much more like something that should be in Vegas or Miami or LA.”
She noted other elements that distinguish the property, like the amount of waterfront it sits on, which she described as “quite rare”; or the infinity pool painted such a color that it appears to merge into the Puget Sound when viewed from particular angles.
“Definitely they were artistic geniuses who created it,” she said later. “So it’s a unicorn, it’s a one of a kind and I think the right somebody is just going to walk in and have to have it.”
“The S House is more than a residence,” Wetter says in the video. “It’s an icon of luxury and a bold statement of success.”
Editor’s note: A previous version of this story misstated the number of parking spaces in the home’s pictured garage, which can hold six vehicles. A separate garage can hold at least two more. The story has also been updated with comments from the listing agent.
