A car crashed into a transmission pole Sunday night, leaving residents without power for several hours.

Initial Facebook posts from Key Peninsula Fire said the driver took off, but they issued a correction in later posts.

“The occupant had to wait until [the Peninsula Light Company] cut power and then they were safely extricated and not injured,” Nesbit told The News Tribune.

Nesbit said the driver was not arrested, and that there was no evidence pointing to them being intoxicated.
