Pierce County bike trail closed for utility work. Avoid this stretch

Were you thinking of soaking up sunshine on the Cushman Trail this week?

Bikers and pedestrians should note that part of the trail will be closed Monday through Friday, as Tacoma Power crews replace three transmission poles and switches near 96th Street and 49th Avenue Court.

Through traffic won’t be allowed on that stretch of the trail while crews complete the work, from 7 a.m. to about 6 p.m. each day, according to a city of Gig Harbor news release.

The Cushman Trail is a 6.2-mile paved trail for pedestrians and bikers, with trailheads at Borgen Boulevard, Hollycroft Street and Grandview Street, according to the city of Gig Harbor’s website. PenMet Parks also manages a trailhead south of city limits at 14th Avenue Northwest.
