It might not be as flashy as you’d expect a $12.8 million home to be. But listing broker Michael Morrison says the waterfront estate at 7906 Goodman Dr. NW delivers on taste.

“If you’re looking for Miami vice, this is not it,” he said.

At 12,990 square feet, the 5-bed, 10-bath home overlooks the Gig Harbor waterfront from a graceful perch built into the hillside. It features its own deep water dock, a roll-down movie theater, a golf simulator, a wine cellar and an elevator. The 1.03-acre property also has garage space for five cars, plus a car carousel to rotate your vehicles.

The home is listed by Morrison House Sotheby’s International Realty. Morrison said it’s been on the market for just over a year and confirmed it’s the most expensive property for sale in Pierce County, as of Thursday afternoon.

In a phone call with The News Tribune, he described the home as “understated” and “casually comfortable,” yet having the “formal spaces that you would expect at this price point.”

It’s the kind of house where “you just want to go in, sit down, have a glass of wine by the fire,” he said.

The home was built in 1920, according to the listing. Harrison Homes remodeled the home’s interior and exterior in 2015.

Visitors entering through the front door step into a foyer framed by two curving staircases, with black walnut flooring and three seashell chandeliers above, according to the feature and benefit highlights posted on the listing website.

Other highlights include an art gallery, a roll-down movie theater in the family room, a golf simulator building detached from the main house and a “captain’s watch level” on the top floor that can be used as a media room or for office space.

The owners are a “local family that’s done well,” Morrison said. They travel often and decided to sell to better accommodate their time abroad. Before they acquired the property, it belonged to a commercial fisherman who has since moved out of the area, according to Morrison.

He said the owners are looking for the right buyer to steward the property in the coming years. He described it as a “legacy-type” property that a family could hand down for generations.

Those with the ability to purchase a home at this price point typically aren’t looking for something flashy, said Morrison.

Instead, he said, they’re looking for something casual, comfortable and elegant.

“I’ve seen a lot of expensive homes, and some of them can be very vulgar,” he said. “But this one is very tastefully done.”
