The Hub celebrates second anniversary with fundraiser for the Fay family
The Hub in Gig Harbor will celebrate its second anniversary this weekend with a unique twist to the usual party: A portion of the day’s proceeds will be donated to the family of Jamie Fay.
“The event was born out of the kindness of Pat Nagle’s heart,” said Matt Allen, general manager of Chambers Bay.
Allen received an email from Nagle, the owner of The Hub and Harmon Brewery, about dedicating the day to the memory of Fay and a portion of the proceeds to his family.
Fay, 36, was the director of sales and marketing and the assistant general manager at Chambers Bay. He was killed by a falling tree on Aug. 29 while driving home from the grocery store with his daughter.
“(We wanted to) celebrate his life and bring the community together,” said Nagle. “We’re doing whatever we can.”
Nagle has developed a close partnership with Chambers Bay officials over the years, he said.
“He has been a great business partner,” Allen agreed.
The businesses are working in partnership to promote the event and to gather community-based prizes for the raffle and silent auction, including donating their own merchandise to the event.
The event will begin with the Hub’s breakfast service and continue throughout the day with face painting, balloon animals and vintage airplanes on display on the tarmac outside the restaurant. A silent auction and raffle will also be featured.
“We want to have a good time in memory of Jamie,” Nagle said of the anniversary event. “(He was) a great guy.”
“We’ve been overwhelmed by the outpouring of community support after this tragedy,” Allen said. “We’re grateful to Pat and his generosity in having this event.”
Nagle and his staff are still gathering together donations for the auction and raffle. Anyone interested in donating should contact Nagle through The Hub’s main telephone number at (253) 853-1585.
The event will begin at 9 a.m. Saturday (Sept. 26) and will continue throughout the day at 1208 26th Avenue NW, Gig Harbor.
