Believers Fellowship set as donation site for Operation Christmas Child

Operation Christmas Child will kick off its 2015 National Collection Week with the goal of reaching 11 million children around the world.

Believers Fellowship in Gig Harbor will serve as a drop-off location for donations.

Gig Harbor site coordinators hope to collect 950 shoebox gifts from the community. Participants in Operation Christmas Child fill empty shoeboxes with toys, school supplies, hygiene items and personal notes for the recipients.

These shoeboxes will be collected and distributed to children in need in more than 150 countries and territories.

Operation Christmas Child, founded in 1993 as a project of Samaritan’s Purse, is the largest Christmas outreach of its kind in the world, having delivered gifts to more than 124 million children since its foundation.

Donations in Gig Harbor will be accepted from 12 to 2 p.m. beginning Nov. 16 to Nov. 23 at Believers Fellowship, 4112 Hunt Street NW.
