Various veterans organizations from across Gig Harbor and a group of residents came together Wednesday morning for the Veterans Day celebration at Artondale Cemetery.

Held in the veterans’ section of the old, rural cemetery, the ceremony began with an invocation, followed by parade of the open flag by Boy Scout Troop 212, which was surrounded by Knights of Columbus Assembly 9238, St. Nicholas Catholic Church.

American Legion Post Commander Ken Christian served as master of ceremonies. Following him was Karl Bonn, VFW Post commander. A volley of rifle shots from Peninsula Veterans’ Color and Honor Guard also highlighted the ceremony. Gig Harbor resident John Moist provided the closing statement.

Other participating groups included Veterans of Foreign Wars, Herman Uddenberg Post 1854 and The American Legion, Greater Gig Harbor Post 236.
