Annual Turkey Trot set for Thanksgiving morning

The 2015 Turkey Trot race will be held at 8 a.m. Nov. 26, Thanksgiving morning.

This race features both 5K and 10K options, with the start and finish line set at 3118 Judson Street, in front of the Gig Harbor post office.

Cans of food will be collected as part of the registration cost and will be donated to FISH food bank.

All event proceeds will be donated to local organizations including Food Backpacks 4 Kids, the Bischoff food bank and scholarships for local high school students.

Cost of the race is $15 for participants age 13 and older. Participants 12 and younger may walk for free.

Day of event registration will begin at 6:30 a.m. the day of the race or participants can pre-register at www.holmeschiropractic.net/turkey-trot.

The race was started by Tim Holmes, owner of Holmes Chiropractic, after his son challenged him to run a marathon together in 2003.
