PenMet Parks hosts Parks Appreciation Day activities Saturday
Parks Appreciation Day will be held from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday (April 23) at several PenMet Parks around Gig Harbor.
This event provides an opportunity for residents to help improve their local park system and clean up PenMet Parks.
Pre-registration is not required and residents are invited to drop by one of the listed sites or a favorite park or school for cleanup.
Larger groups and organizations are asked to contact the local agency for planning.
PenMet sites for this year’s Parks Appreciation Day include:
▪ McCormick Forest Park & Rotary Bark Park, located at 10301 Bujacich Rd NW, South of Sehmel Drive: trail trimming and grooming (shears/loppers, mattocks, rakes, shovels) at McCormick, rakes for Bark Park rock raking, shears for trail trimming
▪ Narrows Park, located at 1600 Lucille Parkway NW: invasive weed removal
▪ Harbor Family Park, located at 70th Ave and 32nd St NW: trail work (shears, loppers)
▪ Sehmel Homestead Park, located at 10123 78th Ave. NW: invasive weed removal, general ground weeding (bring screw drivers)
Volunteers should wear appropriate clothes and shoes and are encouraged to bring gloves and gardening tools, clearly labeled with the owner’s name and contact information.
