Key Peninsula’s 360 Trails Park was awash with tents, awnings and more bicycles than could be easily counted on Sunday as part of the third annual Student Cycling League Race.

One leading participant estimated that 500 bike enthusiasts participated in the event.

“It was great to be at the Student Cycling League Race again,” said Colleen MacDonald, a leading force in the Pullman Inland Northwest Composite team. “We traveled to the race from Pullman as part of the Inland Northwest Composite team, which consists of more than 10 high school students and more than 10 middle school students. There is also a team from Spokane Valley, which consists of approximately 18 middle school students and a handful of high schoolers.”

The weather couldn’t have been better; sunny, yet just warm, not hot. There were teams from throughout Washington state and at least one from Oregon.

MacDonald proudly noted that her daughter has participated in races for other race series at this park.

“We always enjoy this venue both for the great trails as well as parking accessibility,” she said.
