Letters to the Editor for Feb. 20: I hate roundabouts
To the Editor:
About the Harborview-Stinson Avenue roundabout:
The people in my area who commute using eastbound highway 16 would have to begin the commute by driving several miles away from their destinations and encounter more difficult traffic due to the number of commuters diverted to the restricted outlets from Gig Harbor.
They would also have to encounter four roundabouts that already get very crowded at rush hour. This increased traffic on Borgen will affect the quality of life for all who frequent that area. The return evening commute would also be a longer and more difficult commute during the construction project.
Mr. Mumper (letter, Feb. 13) apparently lives on the west side of highway 16, very far from the existing roundabouts and the proposed Stinson roundabout. He would not have to routinely be part of this incredible hardship that would be encountered by my part of the community.
It is clear that there are people who have strong feelings about how they want this intersection treated. That is why I think all of these cost, inconvenience, and duration of construction facts should be presented and voted upon by all of the citizens of our community.
