Cheers and Jeers, Dec. 9

Cheers to the Gig Harbor High School boys basketball team and the many other volunteers who helped at the Basket Brigade. Your help was definitely needed, and we appreciate all the time and effort you gave.

Cheers to our community singers. Because I am a member of the Gig Harbor Peninsula Civic Orchestra, directed by Matthew Underwood, I was blessed with having a front row seat to a very moving experience. For the first time in our 12 years of making music, a choir performed along with our orchestra at our annual Christmas concert. The Peninsula Community Chorus, directed by Wayne Lackman, a Gig Harbor group that has been in existence for 60 years, was asked to join us for a very special piece of music, “The Twelve Days of Christmas,” arranged by Craig Courtney. They obliged and the rest is history. Their voices were beyond beautiful and Bach, Strauss, Beethoven, Saens, Tchaikovsky and Sousa must have had immense smiles from their heavenly vistas. Thank you again for sharing your voices and let’s hope this is just the first of many more.

Cheers to the young girls that in stood out in the pouring rain at the corner of Hunt & Wollochet Saturday, Dec 5, and Sunday, Dec 6, dressed in Christmas tree costumes, dancing and waving at the cars as they passed by. It put a smile on my face and a good feeling in my heart. I’m sure they made quite a few people smile as they passed by. Thank you for your Christmas spirit.
